Purple Hair

If you don't already know, I have a 11 year old Tween daughter that is in LOVE with fashion. I swear she is going to do something in the fashion industry when she grows up. You can read a little about her fashion dilemma here.

To back up 13 years..I used to be a hairstylist before Kailey was born. After maternity leave business went down, so I up and quit in order to start my in home daycare. Never regretted or looked back on my decision to quit. I liked it but my heart wasn't in it.

So fast forward to the present. Kailey has been asking me for highlights for months now. Not just regular blonde highlights..brace yourself...PINK highlights. She offered to pay for them herself, so I asked my hairstylist at my appointment last week about cost...60.00...HOLY COW!!! For just 4-5 highlight throughout her hair! No way was I going to let her spend that kind of money on her hair.

So later that day I went to the beauty supply store (yes, I keep up with my license, the prices are too hard to resist) and found all the supplies she needs and I decided to do it for her myself. We decided on Purple instead of Pink, her hair is very dark and the Purple would be a little more subtle.

While doing her hair I thought, just for fun I will put 1 in my hair. So here you go ladies.. it is never too late to go a little wild with your hair color.

Get your Face on

Beth over @ stories from A to Z is hosting a Get your face on party. Simply take a before and after picture of yourself and list some of your favorite beauty products. Seriously if I can take a picture of myself with no make up on, you can too. So below is my dreaded before picture.
This is so hard to only list a few of my favorite beauty products...why you ask? I am addicted to beauty products. There is something about going to Sephora, Nordstroms or Ulta and coming home with a nice box with some pretty make up. It is such a rush for me. If I am ever having a day where I don't feel pretty..going to the store and treating myself to make up always cheers me up! (no my son's hair is not purple, it was the T.V. in the back ground).
I use Bare Minerals make up and as a concealer I use Benefit Erase Paste. I love this stuff it covers my dark under eyes like magic.
Above is some more of my favorites. Mostly Bare Minerals and some Bobbi Brown. Loving the Sweet Obsessions eye shadow from Bare Minerals right now.
For right now I have been using Laura Mercier cream shadow and then on top of that Bobbi Brown Lilac shimmer. Stila eye liner (this one rocks, the best eyeliner, smudges so nice) Cover Girl mascara.
On my cheeks I use Bobbi Brown pale pink blush and Bobbi Brown Peony shimmer brick on top.

On lips I use MAC Color Me Coral (new for the spring) and lip gloss Cha Cha (also new for Spring) I can't go anywhere without my Blistex, I swear I am addicted to it...I can't leave the house without it.
Here are the cleansing products I use. Love the Clinique Clarifying lotion...I feel like it gets all the dirt off my face, leaving it nice and tingly.
My obsession with Lipstick and glosses.
My after picture..much better than before. I am the type of person that would NEVER leave the house without make up on. So come on Get Your Face On.

The Doody I hate most.....

My new household Doody that I hate the most is.....picking up Dog Doody. If you have a dog or many dogs then you know what a disgusting job this is. Standing outside in the cold picking up dog doody as the neighbors drive by and watch me, so not my idea of fun.

When we got our boxer Bubba a few months ago my husband got the Doody pickerupper with the idea that our 11 year old and 8 year old daughters would take on this disgusting task. Well if you have daughters then you know that there is no way in the world they will do this job willingly or even at all. Especially a tween girl, she would not be caught dead picking up Doody, god forbid if a friend drove by and saw her. So guess who is left with the disgusting job of picking up the Doody? This is why it is the household Doody I Hate the most.

Chicken Tetrazzini

4 Tbls chopped onion
1 Tbls Butter
1 can Cream of Mushroom soup
1/2 cups water
1/2 cups cheddar cheese
1 cup cooked chicken
1 Tbls Parsley
1 Tbls chopped pimento (optional)
1/2 pounds cooked thin spaghetti

Saute onions in butter. Blend in soup, water and cheese. Stir until cheese is melted. Add chicken and rest of ingredients. Bake at 350F for 20-30 minutes or until heated through. I like to add a little bit of sour cream and add more cheese to top right before it goes in the oven.

Baby Blues

I have found my self lately with the Baby Blues.....no I am not pregnant, that is why I am having the baby blues. My clock is ticking right now and I am so badly wanting to be pregnant. We are not trying to get pregnant (not yet anyway) and I honestly don't know when we will start trying again.

It seems everywhere I turn there are pregnant women...friends, relatives, other bloggers, women on the street, in the stores, and my daycare parents. I am happy for every woman I know and see that is pregnant right now..but I am struggling so much with wanting to complete my own family for the last time.

Just tonight I finally took down my son's baby crib (he got a big boy bed). A little part of me is wondering when will I be putting the crib back together again? I can remember every time we put the crib together for each of our children. I don't remember being sad about taking it apart each time because I knew there was going to be a next time when it would be put back together, but tonight I find myself wondering if there will be a next time? Don't get me wrong..I am so thankful that God has blessed us with the 3 perfect, wonderful, loving children that we have, but I have always wanted 4 children for our family.

I pray that God sends me a sign and lets me know when the time is right. So for now I will rejoice with my friends and family over their pregnancies but I will do so with a little bit of a heavy heart.

Fruit Kabobs

This week we (daycare kiddos) worked on the letter K. Today we made fruit kabobs. So yummy, Sam carefully added grapes to his skewer and then enjoyed them. I think this will make a great snack for my own kids to grab as they come home from school.
